Disney has shared exciting new details about Monstropolis, the highly anticipated Monsters, Inc.-inspired land coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.
While construction continues behind the scenes, Disney is beginning to reveal the story, setting, and immersive experiences guests can expect when they eventually step into the monster world. If you're a fan of Sulley, Mike Wazowski, and the beloved Pixar film, this expansion is shaping up to be one of the most exciting additions to Walt Disney World in years.

A New Chapter for the Monsters, Inc. Story
Earlier this week, Disney released the above "news article," which gave fans their first in-depth look at just what is in store once this land opens up. Rather than simply recreating scenes from the movie, Disney is building an entirely new story that allows humans to finally visit Monstropolis.

Fans will remember that the original Monsters, Inc. story ended with a major discovery: human laughter produces significantly more energy than screams. That breakthrough changed the way monsters viewed humans. They were no longer a threat.

According to Disney, the city of Monstropolis has evolved dramatically since then. Fear of humans has given way to curiosity, and the once-strict separation between the two worlds is beginning to disappear. Now, for the first time, humans are being invited into Monstropolis as honored guests on H.U.M.A.N. day.

What's H.U.M.A.N. Day?
H.U.M.A.N. Day, which stands for "Humans Understand Monsters Are Nice" (awww!), is happening the day that you visit Monstropolis. The event serves as a cultural exchange between monsters and humans, celebrating the newfound relationship between the two worlds. Guests visiting Monstropolis will become part of this story, experiencing a city that is opening its doors to humans for the very first time. It's a super cute and seriously clever way for Disney to explain why guests are able to enter a world that was once considered completely off-limits.

Of course someoneneeds to be in charge of H.U.M.A.N. day. Enter: HR: Monstropolis' Department of Human Relations.

This organization has been tasked with helping monsters better understand humans and preparing the city to welcome visitors from the human world. The concept adds another layer of world-building and creates opportunities for the kind of storytelling and details Disney fans love discovering throughout the parks.

Exploring the Streets of Monstropolis
Disney has also shared a glimpse of what guests can expect when walking through the new land.

The city will feature bustling streets filled with monster-sized businesses, unique architecture, and recognizable locations from the Monsters, Inc. universe.

Among the locations Disney has confirmed are:

• Harryhausen's (!!!), the famous restaurant featured in the original film. I don't know about you, but I've wanted to eat at Harryhausen's since 2001. Also, I'm going to be seriously sad if this restaurant doesn't include an octopus animatronic. 
• The Glob Theater. I'm wondering if we'll eventually see the Monsters, Inc Laugh Floor moved here. Regardless, I hope that there will be an Easter Egg shout-out to the dearly departed Muppet-Vision 3-D inside the theater (sigh...).
• More storefronts and city buildings that bring Monstropolis to life

Why Disney Fans Are Excited
We have a Monsters, Inc ride at Disney California Adventure (for now...), but it's a stand-alone ride in a back lot. It's nothing like what Monstropolis will be. The combination of immersive storytelling, beloved characters, detailed environments, and Disney's commitment to creating living, breathing worlds has many fans eagerly anticipating what could become one of the most popular areas at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Construction Is Well Underway
Recent images released by Disney show steel structures rising behind construction walls at Disney's Hollywood Studios. While Disney has not announced an opening date, visible progress suggests the project is moving steadily forward. As with many large-scale Disney projects, additional details will likely be revealed over time, including attractions, dining experiences, entertainment offerings, and interactive elements throughout the land. There's hope that more details will be released at the D23 convention in August.

In many cases, Bounceback Offers allow guests to secure future travel dates before standard promotions are released, which can provide both pricing advantages and better availability.

Who Qualifies for a Bounceback Offer?
You may be eligible for a Bounceback Offer if:

• You are currently staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel
• You complete your stay within the promotional eligibility window
• You book your future vacation within 7 days of checkout

You can book with a $200 deposit due within 3 days. The reservation can then be paid over time, as long as it's paid off 30 days prior to check-in.

Do You Need to Book Before You Leave Disney?
Nope! One of the most misunderstood parts of this offer is timing.
You do not need to book while you are still at the resort, and you do not need to rush to the front desk before checkout. Instead, you have 7 days after checkout to secure your Bounceback reservation.
That means you can return home, review your calendar, contact your preferred Travel Advisor, and decide on your 2027 travel dates before committing.

Any Frozen-obsessed fan will enjoy this show, and parents who can recite most of the movie by heart will appreciate the funny commentary by the show’s Arendelle Historian hosts.

Walk through several hallways filled with Disney memorabilia and artifacts from Disney’s 100-year history, past and present. End with a 15-minute film about Walt’s life that plays on a loop.

Luigi’s Rollickin' Roadsters
Hop in a 1950s-style vintage Italian convertible and “dance” around Luigi’s Casa Della Tires storage yard to Cars-inspired vintage tunes like “Tire-antella” and “Mambo Italiano.” The cars gently guide around the dance floor in smooth patterns, making it a great sensory-friendly experience for the whole family.

Animation Academy
If your loved one has an eye for art and drawing, this is a can't-miss experience. Learn step-by-step how to draw a popular Disney character from a live animator. Classes occur every 30 minutes, so pop in throughout the day. Disney characters you can draw can also rotate, so you can get a different experience each time.

Jessie’s Critter Carousel
This Toy Story 2-themed carousel in Pixar Pier features Jessie and her desert critter friends.

Pixar Pal-Around
Take a spin on one of Disney California Adventure’s landmarks with this classic Ferris wheel that soars 150 feet above the park with fantastic views of Disneyland Resort. The attraction offers both swinging and stationary gondolas, so you can pick the one that your family will enjoy most. Each gondola features a unique Disney or Pixar character.

Golden Zephyr
This multi-person swinging ride is modeled after retro spaceships featured in 1920s sci-fi flicks.

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
Explore, play, and climb on this wilderness-themed trail that highlights some of California’s natural wonders. The area features a nature trail, a rock climbing wall, a water log ride, a zip line, and more.

The Untrainable Dragon live show brings the dragons of Berk to life using larger-than-life puppetry, live percussionists, dancers, singers, and visits from Viking friends from the How to Train Your Dragon franchise. The most memorable part? Toothless and Hiccup soaring high over the audience in an epic flight that will wow kids of all ages (and may make you shed a tear). The show is about 20 minutes long, so it's a great way to take a break from an epic day of adventures and the Florida heat.​

Head to Haddock Paddock, the Isle of Berk's primary character meet and greet location, to get up close with the dragons and Vikings that call Berk home. This is the primary location to snap a pic with Toothless, who fully interacts with you throughout your experience. Hiccup will guide you through how to properly approach the dragon and gain approval before petting its nose and taking a picture together. Other Viking friends like Astrid, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, and their dragons also appear there. These extremely lifelike dragons create an immersive experience that feels simply magical. You can also spot other vikings and dragons roaming throughout the land at certain times of day. In addition, there are interactive dragon animatronics and images throughout Berk (30 in all) that you can spot while you explore Berk.​

Mario characters and lifelike game theming are everywhere in Super Nintendo World—including on your plate. From whimsical treats to themed entrées and innovative popcorn buckets, these edible works of art help bring the stories of Super Nintendo World to life. Visit Yoshi’s Snack Island near Mount Beanpole for turtle-shell-shaped calzones. The Green Shell is plant-based, and the Red Shell is filled with Italian meats. Head over to Donkey Kong Country and try the DK Crush Float at Bubbly Barrel. This crazy-sweet float combines banana cream Dole Whip soft serve and Pineapple Fanta soda, and is topped with caramel popcorn, chocolate, and toffee pieces served in a waffle bowl. Get it in a souvenir DK barrel to take home for extra fun!​

The newest fish in the pond of Orlando theme park eateries is one of the most underrated attractions at Epic Universe. This fine dining restaurant is located in the heart of Celestial Park, Epic Universe’s central hub and entrance portal. The circular, tiered-story design mimics the ocean: you enter on the top “surface” level with vintage nautical wood carvings that remind you of an old schooner ship’s interior. Walk down a curved staircase into the "sea" where an array of stained glass fish lamps, glass bubble chandeliers, and ocean figures dance over your head. The dining area juts out into Neptune Lagoon and has floor-to-ceiling windows with park views. Book a nighttime dining reservation to see the dazzling multi-colored fish lamps and bubble chandeliers come to life. Pair it with Celestial Park's lighting and ambiance at night for a truly stunning experience.​

For a land completely dedicated to Universal’s classic monsters, you’ll enjoy some pretty hilarious character interactions at Dark Universe. This lightens the mood and helps ease the tension of even the most skittish guests.
